The TURTLEKeya is the Lakota name for the turtle. The Turtle is big medicine to the Indian peoples. It stands for long life, endurance and the power to survive. A Turtle heart is great medicine, for it keeps on beating long after the Turtle is dead. There are 13 plates on a Turtle's back and 13 moons in a year. The Turtle is believed to contain the mystery of the moon in its shell. The Turtle is wise, hears many things and tells nothing. It symbolizes long life, dedication and steadfastness. Each bag was made with great love and respect. It honors the Turtle and the Great Spirit, who created it. I pray that it will bless the owner for many years.Wakan Tanka kici un! - May the Lord bless you! | |
